Jahbitat - "Durazno" (Video)
“Jahbitat is the audio project of Simon Williams, who moved around Latin
America as a young child but eventually ended up growing up in the
valley located on the Venezuelan coastal range. This massive urban
jungle known as Caracas, is surrounded by every aspect of nature (sky,
mountain, jungle, ocean, etc..) and creatures both big and small. This
fusion of man-made technology meets complete wildlife is what can be
found at the core of the Jahbitat electronic yet highly organic sounds.
Guitar drones, syncopated drums and sometimes even vocals accompany an
arrange of tones that get trapped in an electronic forest of knobs,
effects and machines. Simon’s has now transplanted his melodic sound and
abstract beats into his surroundings of Barcelona. Jahbitat has been
performing around Europe at festival circa for several years and linked
up with Miami’s Beta Bodega Coalition/Botanica del Jibaro & Project:
Mooncircle for a series of shows in 2003, which finally resulted in a
selection of songs which mesh the past, present and future for his debut
release. Some may have heard the self released cd-r entitled “Tonadas”
back in 2004, which made the rounds at the Sonar festival. An artist and
friend of Arepaz and Project Mooncircle, we now proudly present Harpy
Lights the Canopy. A release inspired by the largest eagle in South
America, the Harpy, which is not only majestic as Jahibtat’s melodies
but also a known predator which infectious beats that thump and you can’t escape from."

DJ Zhao - NGOMA VOL. 2
DJ Zhao - NGOMA VOL. 2 (Rapidshare) or (Megaupload)
it is said that the drum itself was invented in africa. and as far as i'm concerned, all modern pop and especially dance music have deep roots in the musical traditions of that continent. should be no surprise that amazing techno is coming from there; after all, the 4 on the floor hypnotic groove can be found in african music from every era.
history was made in 2008 with warp records' release of dj mujava's township funk, which i believe is only the beginning of westerners coming to grips with the awesome power of african techno. i have been playing euro-centric dance music for years, but in recent times have increasingly sensed a solipsism, stagnation, and bankrupsy of ideas. today i feel the style loosely termed "uk funky" is leading the way out of the rut; and it is no coincidence that the most exciting thing happening in european dance music is directly derivative of african and afro-caribbean rhythmic structures.

Saul Williams - The Goverment
Mp3: Saul Williams - The Goverment
"Tardust Liberated"
We have overcome.
Except those of us now in Gaza. Except those of us whom police kill. Except those of us who are suspects. Except those of us whom the church hate. Except those of us damned to taste good. Except those of us held by fate. We are meeting in the capitol. Word is, freedom will not wait.
All that once was never shall be.
All they could do won't be done.
All we sang of is now happening.
[note to self:]
Must write
new songs
to become…
...And so it was. Through the collective imagination of the people, the force of will and human potential, and an unflinching ability to hold himself to task, Niggy Tardust was liberated. His ability to see beyond the boundaries and obstacles of 'genre', 'race', and suppression, allowed him to encompass a grace and sound that embodied the all. All that had stood against him, now stood with him. All that had claimed a lesser harmony, now craved voice and resonance. He stood with poets, painters, dancers, students, children of the night who had transformed themselves into a million bright ambassadors of morning, and proclaimed,
"We declare declaratives and deny the official. Based in the landmark of the G-spot, we have overtaken ourselves and overthrown our forefathers. Let there be light within the light and let it answer to the name of Darkness. We are forever risen from the deadly: the anti-virus and the All Stars. Granted power by forces unbeknownst to us. Made in the likeness of kindness. We offer anger to the angry and fear to the fearful. We dance at our own funerals to forsake the mourners…
…This is no time to cry! This is no time at all! Here is the moment of the overlooked and the unforeseeable. We are the elected officials of the people: poets and artists. We are the declarative statement of the inarticulate, the irreparably damaged goods of the bad meaning good. We are the government! We are the government! We are the government!"

Angel Eyes - NYE 09 Demo
Angel Eyes is a up and coming House DJ from Wisko who loves to incorporate her own vocals over tracks & live mixes. Her inspirations range from Nadia Ali, Collete, MEA, and her favorite House DJ, J.C. Disko. Who happened to teach her the in's and outs of mixing, and the culture of House Music. With that being said, here's a wonderful mix she sent me for all to enjoy.
